Camera Trapping Research

Researchers use camera traps to learn how native animals make use of undeveloped lands near the North Carolina Zoo. This study, from 2011, focused on predators and their hunting preferences.

Hellbender – Giant Salamander of North America

Among the forty-two species of salamanders found in the
woods, streams and rivers of North Carolina, the hellbender
may be the strangest. Some people say the hellbender is the
most grotesque-looking salamander in North America.
